Protégé Dance Competition is THE Dance Competition Dedicated to Giving Back to the dance community. Seeing a need for change in the competition world, the creators of Protégé who have danced, instructed, competed and/or run competitions all over the East coast implemented the many facets of giving back; teacher discounts, parent vouchers and student scholarships are just some of the ways we fulfill that promise. Last season, we had the opportunity to visit with friends of old, as well as to meet new teachers, their students and families. We had dancers perform with Dr. Oz at his annual HealthCorps Benefit Gala and awarded scholarships to studios to The Millennium Dance Complex in Pittsburgh to further their training. During this year, in our “I GAVE BACK” program, registered dancers and their families once again donated over 500 pieces of gently used dance attire for us to provide to dancers in need. We offered a free master class on stage at each competition city and gave each dancer the opportunity to win scholarships. Additionally, our judges offered useful, positive video critiques that inspired the dancers to WANT to improve with each rehearsal and performance time on stage.
Our professional, friendly, knowledgeable staff is always available to answer questions, and to be sure that your time with Protégé is enjoyable for all involved. Each city has two industry working professionals, as well as one current studio teacher on our judging panel. We feel that this allows the dancers to perform at a higher level, but also to have someone who knows the normal technical ranges of students at various ages. We offer two levels of competition, novice and prodigy, to allow the dancers the opportunity to succeed no matter where their competition experience falls. Whereas we want to encourage each dancer to always give their very best, we only award the top 3 in each division. We will always do our best to be sure that each studio has plenty of dressing room space, as well as ample time to change between routines. We offer a user friendly online registration process which allows you to register once and always have your student’s information at your fingertips to maneuver to each event you attend, regardless of year. Individual schedules are emailed to the studio one week prior to the competition. Thinking of the dancer and wanting them to perform at their best, as well as easing the burden of the teacher is our utmost priority!
We are so excited for all 2016 has in store and we want you to be a part of it with us!! Register today so that you can see that your Protégé experience will be your BEST competition experience ever.
